Community Projects

Skatepark

A group of local kids and adults are working on proposals and fundraising for a skatepark in Balmedie.

A consultation on the location was inconclusive and further work will be udnertaken.

Paths

This project is on-going.  Geography graduates at Aberdeen University have undertaken a full study.  If you would like to get involved please contact the Chairman.

A detailed study has been made into a possible paths network around the parish.  The full study is published here.

The path from Eigie Rd to the Country Park alongside the burn was offically launched on 26th Septemeber 2003.

Plans are also afoot (pardon the pun!) for a path from Balmedie to Milldren using a tunnel under the A90.

Local History Project

Belhelvie Community Council received lottery funding to compile a history book for the area.  Dr's Steven and Alexia Murdoch of Aberdeen University carried out the research for the project which is now published as a book and on this web site.  If you have any more information on the history of the parish or any old photographs that may be interesting to others, let us know and we will publish as much as possible here.

Play Equipment

Shuna Jenkins has put together a package of play equipment to replace outworn pieces and upgrade others.  This proposal has been funded from landfill tax monies from the Shanks Waste Solutions Landfill site at Wester Hatton/Tarbothill along side some monies amde available by Aberdeenshrie Council.  An offical opening is planned for June 3rd 2003.
